I love this song and I love it even more when played with bagpipes. I want it played at my funeral.
“Know how sublime a thing it is to suffer and be strong.” ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Getting out there and reading all this new material has turned up some strange and bizarre stories. I just felt I had to add my own weird one after reading Average Joe’s about the bird poop facials. Not for me, thanks but no thanks!
I suffer from allergies pretty badly so I had to go read this article that I ran across. It’s well written and very informative. I even can understand the theory behind why it works. But I must admit that I read it with a kind of fascinated horror. I’ve never had asthma so I am pretty convinced after reading this that I can live with my allergies just fine. I admire the author for going ahead and finding something that works and sticking with it.
But for me that would be a huge problem. The one phobia I have is worms. Any kind of worm and things that look too much like worms like say, millipedes. Caterpillars one at a time don’t qualify, but tent caterpillars do. You can tell I have this well reasoned out over the years! I remember in Science class in middle school when the teacher started talking about human parasites. I was shocked and appalled. Even more so when the girl beside me said “Oh yes, we all have them, you have to go to the doctor and get medicine to get rid of them.” I went home and was crying to my mother because I just couldn’t bear the thought that those things were living inside me. After she managed to stop laughing she explained that NO, we don’t all have them and that was why she taught us to wash our hands, etc. Can you imagine my relief?
So, no, I won’t be rushing out to infect myself with these either. If I did I would need serious sedation the entire time and probably someone else to wipe my hiney after every…well you know.

One of my classmates just mentioned that she’s preparing for a move. She has all my sympathies. I went through that 2 years ago and I’m still not unpacked 😉 More work with a baby in tow. The move I made when my daughter’s were 5 years and 6 months old was the worst.

It has been so horribly hot and humid for days that I have felt really unwell. Last summer I had working air conditioning and also had my computer upstairs where, thank the gods, the windows actually open and have screens on them. It may seem strange to many of you that I have lived here for two years and just a few days ago discovered that I actually only have one window I can open on my main floor. Of course I had to wait for the rain to stop to do that today because otherwise it would have rained in, ran into the electrical outlet on the floor under it and probably made my power go out, or worse, burned my house down.
I have no idea how you go about finding screens for an old house with those wooden frame storms, but I’m guessing I need to find or have built some frames. Ah geez, I think it might be so much easier to get the ac fixed, albeit much more expensive. Of course since I apparently need to buy a new furnace before winter I’ll probably get both if I somehow win the lottery or something. I purposely bought a house with a newer roof and furnace because I live on disability and knew I’d need to save up for them. My furnace quit three times last winter. Lame, very lame. The scoop was that whoever installed the furnace and ac did it all wrong and so they like got confused and ran at the same time, which made the furnace quit and the ac to overheat. So, I have the choice of spending maybe $1000 to unstick them from each other and maybe have a working piece of junk furnace, or spending the arm and a leg to get a whole new system. Then I could live in blessed splendor in the summer with all my stormed up windows left closed. Yes, that seems like the best plan.

Geo’s are making a comeback! After all these years I’m finally chic 😉 Too bad I can barely afford to drive it. I seriously dislike my little car but can’t gripe about the gas milage.
