I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, “Trees,” 1914
What an amazingly beautiful tree. It reminds me that spring WILL come, even though we have 2 weeks to go to the shortest day.
What a beautiful tree. You really captured it!!
I wish I could have dug that beauty up and moved it with me. Of course I was only renting that house so that would have been a big nono 😉
Now I only have an unidentified tree in my yard that’s half dead and pretty ugly. *sniff*
I can’t believe that something that pink could be so beautiful and the poem is awesome. It would have taken a lot for me to leave it as well, but wonderful to have the reminders.
It’s a gorgeous tree, I miss it.
