“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally
worn out, and loudly proclaiming Holy shit! What a ride!!”
I saw this quote and thought it was perfect as I wobble towards old age with the map of my journey inscribed on my body. All my numerous scars each tell a story. From sliding into second base, to the birth of my daughter, to my lumpy skull where my shunt resides. Most of the memories are good, or at least funny now. How about you, can you see your life journey?
Hi Anita,
I love that picture of you – so different from your gravatar one. Both are of a pretty woman but this one is so real and warm. About my life journey – mine keeps getting interrupted. By that I mean I have this list of things not completed on my long ToDo list and as one of my favorite songs says, “Time keeps on slipping…slipping…slipping into the future…..” Do you know the song I mean? Was that by The Eagles?
Adele – I Chingโs last blog post..Merce Cunningham at 90: Dance and I Ching
Yeah, the real me there, except for the cracked filter I added ๐ I know about interruptions, detours and off the rails! That song is one of my favorites. Fly like an eagle by the Steve Miller Band.
Anita,
Great post from you! How nice to hear you laughing now.
I think I have earned all my wrinkles, and they are numerous. I may have even earned my lumpy middle section. But I’ve had and am experiencing a great life. A loyal and kind spouse, 3 lovely daughters who are wonderful moms to my 6 grandkids. Funny and sad stories along the way.
Thanks for providing a time of insight.
Carol

Carolโs last blog post..Iโm not alone.
I think that’s wonderful Carol. I never had a spouse but I have such great kids it makes up for it ๐ The great thing about looking back, is once you are separated by time and emotion is you can finally see how simply funny some experiences were. Some will never be anything but painful, but time eases that as well.
awww thanks mom! ๐ i definitely can see part of my life journey. an increasing amount of moles and freckles from too much sun, scars from playing as a kid, gallbladderectomy scars, my early midlife crisis scar (aka eyebrow ring) – I wonder what other ones I will accumulate throughout my life!
Ah yes my dear, you are getting there! Watch those moles though (like I should talk about too much sun, I was much worse than you!). As for the eyebrow ring, naw, that was totally emo stuff! ๐
