I started to make a post about this amazing woman, but youtube doesn’t allow it to be embedded. Then I came back and made it anyway because she so inspired me, so you’ll just have to go there to listen to her amazing voice. (click picture to go to the youtube video)
Liz Strauss ask how we make our dream visible. Susan Boyle sure made hers visible in a big way, and the song she chose was perfect. I think however that she shouldn’t need to change her physical appearance to something acceptable to anyone. She did it her way, she is who she is and I find that absolutely perfect.
Since I want this post to remain uplifting, I’ll leave my personal dreams or lack thereof out of it. Huge kudos to Susan for having the courage to go for hers! And boo to all the people who prejudged her by her appearance. That’s always been a sore point with me. Maybe because I’m just an ugly girl on the outside, but not on the inside.
I noticed on this video that a lot of people were showing what they really looked like. It wasn’t pretty. Karol
Yes, I totally agree. They should wish to be her.
I saw her as well, Anita — on Liz’ site. I was overjoyed at her voice. Even her speaking voice hinted at what we’d hear, but the song she chose — difficult at best for the best singers! — is one of my favorites. She went right to my heart.
I didn’t have a problem with her appearance. Her age surprised me — she looked older than that to me. But then it was probably the dress — it looked like one my mom would have worn.
See how easily I judge visually?
Last year it was Paul Potts, unassuming — who’d a thought. But he won — same show. I bought his CD. I’ll buy Susan’s too as soon as it’s available.
I don’t subscribe to Simon’s culture — nor his expectations — nor usually his music tastes. (Quite often my favorite singers get booted or voted off the show.)
What thrilled me the most was the standing and cheering after the first three or four notes were out. That’s what happens when beauty transcends the visual.
We all judge through our eyes — sad sometimes, but also a useful tool that serves us well at others. Something to think about………………………

I thought she was cheeky and honest so I was rather endeared to her before she started singing 😉
As one spinster living with her cats to another 😀
I found a good article that pleased me though: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/apr/16/britains-got-talent-susan-boyle
I saw her on tv. She’s amazing isn’t she. Thanks for putting it on your blog.

Yeah, I love her, I’ve watched a couple interviews since then, she has a cool personality 😉
Susan Boyle is an exceptionally talented lady who’s been subjected to considerable pressure in the media. IMHO she deserves every bit of success that she is having.
I totally agree, and I’d say it’s long overdue.
