I’m not so good at begging for money but I thought oh, what the hell 😉 Wanted to see how it works and since I really do need a furnace by winter and have no clue how I’m going to afford one…I’m aiming for 5000 generous souls to contribute $1 each. I have a long way to go getting 5000 people to read these crazy rambles I write but I think that just hooking people up with the hookworm story is worth a buck! Living on disability I’m having a fun enough time not affording my meds and car repairs. But you gotta have a furnace!
This seems like a great place to mention that I have the Amazon ad on here and they emailed me to mention that I hadn’t had any sales. Like I needed them to point that out! I have my Zazzle store on here and have not made one sale but apparently I am going to get $.91 because someone clicked on my store link and then went and bought something from someone else’s store! I think I feel offended. I have a Cafepress store that I’m probably going to close because unlike Zazzle that’s free, to make a decent store there it costs you money.
On my other blog I have Google adsense ads that haven’t sold a thing, my Zazzle and Cafepress stores, I have ads I made for affiliate sales from companies listed on Paydotcom. I have had one sale. Police Exam 911, a study guide for passing your police test. I got $28 for that sale. Pretty good percentage. I only picked companies that looked like they were selling cool stuff. In fact if you are looking for some great Chinese tattoos I suggest you rush over to my other blog and click on that ad!! 😉 Not to mention I’ve had Daz affiliate ads plastered all over my website and never got a thing there either. The best way to approach it is to clearly expect nothing. Then you might get a pleasant surprise once in a while.
My golly you have been busy! I have just done the amazon thing and I have made a little on that (little). But I AM a bookaholic, and I do write about art books quite often. (Well, I did on my old blog.) I have 5 new books here now so will have to write about them soon too.
I suspect that actually writing about the books you read would make a big difference. I wish my busyness was paying off a little! I have been somewhat discerning about what I want to advertise though. Only books from Amazon, because that’s all I buy there. I love books. I think it’s great that you’ve made something from it! 😉
I haven’t made a lot off of affiliate sites, but the money that I have made has always come from posts specific to the porduct. Sometimes it takes awhile but it can trickle in over time. I got an Amazon buy this week from a post I wrote last July. That one post has been continuing to give me clicks, not a lot, but certainly enough to buy another book to blog about!
Looks like I might need to become a book reviewer 😉
Anita,
I relate to the money issue. $1.00 is easy to give. But where do you have a link for that? How do you have people give you $1.00? Or are you going to stand out on the street? Joking!
Lol, I’m thinking about trying the street corner and a cup. The link is that big thing up on the left sidebar. It goes to Paypal. I need to start writing more interesting posts 😉
huh? I’m afraid I don’t see any ‘big thing’ up in the left sidebar. Can you be more specific? Also, I would suggest editing this this post and put a text link around the words
‘contribute $1’ … I’ll bet you get a better response. 😉
Wow, I’m glad you told me. It was showing just fine in Firefox, I’d have never known. I had a typo in it! 😉 I dunno how to turn that widget into a link.
Ah, much better. That is waaay to cool. I left you a little sumthin’ sumthin’. 😉
Thank you Sandy! You’re a sweetie 😉
