Sometimes I am so annoyed with the media. They throw around the term bipartisan…or generally the lack thereof, with barely disguised glee. They sound like little annoying children to me much of the time. I remember when the tsunami hit and they went on and on about which countries sent more money to help. Tactless and tasteless. I won’t even go into what I thought of them during the presidential race and the pettiness they came up with.
But here I am scratching my head again at a report from cnn…”President Barack Obama on Thursday embarks on a trip to Latin America, where the leader of the world’s lone superpower said he seeks to engage in talks with the region’s leaders as equals.” Huh? the leader of the world’s lone superpower? Where did that come from? And even if it was true, why is it even pertinent to the article? When preceding the part about engaging as equals, it seems to imply that we aren’t equals. Sounds like they are presenting us as some benevolent uncle or some garbage. Which, if I was a Latin American, I’d find offensive. Are these people stupid? Maybe someone can explain to me why it was important to throw that line in there. Why not see if we can offend our Latin American neighbors….duh.
I hope I’m not the only one that would like to see some maturity and class by the news media. Along with some unbiased honesty, but that may be too much to expect.
I missed that one. I don’t listen to mainstream media much. Unbiased reporting just doesn’t happen there. I agree with you that the issues reported and the questions raised often leave me shaking my head.
I left them (mainstream media) during the last presidential campaign… when truth got so twisted it was not recognizable in the resulting rubbish.

Yeah, I go to cnn online to keep up with breaking news. I wish I could just get the news without the bias. heh.
I only watch Fox News these days. While they aren’t perfect they do show both sides. The claim that they are “ring wing” is simply because the right makes their points better than the left do. Many left wing politicians will not go on Fox because they know their positions do not hold water, and will be shot down.
There are plenty of left leaning pundits and commentators on Fox, and they always get their say. It often just doesn’t make sense. I am sure that if the left could make their case to those of us who think, and it made sense, then Fox would be cast in a different light.
CNN is mind candy for those that don’t think (much). The rest of the media is mind poison for those that don’t think at all.

Yes, I tend to agree with you about cnn, but clearly I still read there at times. 😉
